New Jams!

Well… I’ve somehow managed to stay productive at work, freelance my a$$ off, be more GLEEful, furnish my home, plan my non-existent wedding, laugh, experiment in the kitchen, fantasize about playing a major role on Mad Men as an Asian lady with wavy hair, and love my cats more than ever before. I feel a little cracked out, like I haven’t slept in months, but I love being busy and learning different ways to create a loving marriage between design, interiors, and every other random passion I have. Like country music! BUT ANYWAY. Thanks to all of you who have stayed tuned in. I have lots of exciting new work nearing completion. Here’s a peek at what I’ve been up to, with another project on the way!

And also some things that have been said about the year 2011:

No Douchebags in 2011.
2011: Year of Upgrade. Holla.

By the way… Is it me, or am I noticing a trend here… Food and beverage… Local businesses… Entrepreneurial spirit… Young people with warm hearts making it happen… You guys have all been so great to work with. Thanks for making my job so enjoyable.

Tasty News!

Please allow me to extend a long overdue congratulations to my good friends Sean and Johnny over at Tasty Beverage Company. In the past month, funding has been approved, a location secured, and a lease signed. Please subscribe to their newsletter, the first of which has just been sent out. Tasty Beverage Company can also be followed on Twitter and Facebook. Love!

We All Scream

I can’t believe how lucky I am to be working on an identity and menu for The Durham Ice Cream Company, also known as Parlour. I’ve just loved the drawing part of this process, so here’s a sneak peak at some of what I’ve done so far. The website will be the last thing we design, and I’m hoping to have the logo and menus all worked out within the week!

New Tasty Shirts!

Get ‘em while they’re hot! Sean just printed another batch of Tasty Beverage Co. shirts in some great new colors, and they look fantastic. They’re available to order through the Tasty Beverage Co. Big Cartel shop for $20.00 apiece (top row) or $40.00 for the one-off shirts in orange, raspberry, gold, royal blue, and purple (bottom row). Help support a great local business that, with your help, will be opening SO SOON!

Film9 Collective

The main mark and some additional elements for my most recent identity project. Film9 Collective is a group of nine film photographers working and exhibiting together in Raleigh, NC. My friend Monica is among them and will be displaying her work at their first group show this coming February at the Morning Times!

Rock and Shop Market

Whew! Just finished designing the poster and postcard for the Winter 2010 Rock and Shop Market. I LOVE LOVE LOVED the research component of this project and still feel like I could spend hours/days/months/years/lifetimes looking at neon signs. The posters and postcards will only be printed digitally for the event, but if I can manage to get my ass in gear, I smell a great screenprinting opportunity! For more details, visit the Rock and Shop Market Facebook event page.

TwoDumbs Etsy Sale

From now through December 31st, Critter and I are having a Buy 2 Get 1 Free (of equal or lesser value) sale on our typographic prints and posters in our TwoDumbs Etsy Store. And the holidays are just around the corner, so… Let us help you get your jingle on!

November Fish Market: The Process Show

Come see how students’ minds tick, featuring a student process sketchbook project. Don’t miss out on a LEGO letterpress process demo by Sam Cox and my friend and co-worker Justin LaRosa of Physical Fiction. From 7-9pm, they’ll be showing us how it’s done and giving away free prints as part of the demo! If you can’t make it to the show, don’t miss your chance to win free prints by entering their giveaway over at designworklife. For more information about the show, check out the Facebook event page.

Butter and Sauce

I alluded to a new side project in a previous post, and here it is! I began teaching myself to restore and refinish furniture a few months ago, which quickly renewed my obsession with decorating my house (I’ve lived here for over a year and done nothing). To put it lightly, I’ve become a full blown interior addict. If I don’t spend at least 75% of my day on Etsy, I feel lost and empty inside. So I got up the courage to attend my first auction last weekend and finally experienced the most anxiety inducing activity I could possibly participate in. But what a rush it was to bid, glare, and win. Throw DOWN!

Now, as a hobby, I’ve opened an Etsy store called Butter and Sauce, where I’m selling antiques and vintage items. I will also be using Butter and Sauce as the name for another blog (I know, I know, Blogs… I love them) in the works that will document all of my furnishing, refinishing, and decorating projects, tips, and inspiration. This is going to be so much fun and such a great time! Coming soon.

Matte Black is Better

A few days ago, I acquired a nasty cold, have been feeling a bit loopy, and matte black love is what became of my time off.
